Tatiana, tell us more about how you started in journalism and how did you manage to combine your passion for fashion, cinema and reporting?

I began my career as a journalist in Monaco, working for a Russianspeaking television and radio network. I have always been success on social media as an influencer, and with time I started to have a good understanding of the Russian-speaking community in Monaco. When I learned that a Russian radio and television station had just launched, which organized numerous glamorous events for Monaco residents and Russian-speaking residents of the French Riviera, I saw a perfect opportunity to express my passion through this media as a journalist. Then I met the owner of the group and we found out that it could be a very productive collaboration. That’s how my journey as a journalist began. This opportunity perfectly aligned with my personality.

There were countless events surrounding this television and radio network. Monaco always had something interesting going on — fascinating people, noteworthy occasions, and, once a year, the highly anticipated Cannes Festival. There was always a place to dress up, mingle with intriguing individuals, and conduct interviews. It began a vibrant, star-studded life filled with incredible emotions, captivating events, and unforgettable experiences. I felt completely in my element and thoroughly enjoyed my work.

Later, I relocated to Paris and dove headfirst into attending fashion shows, which allowed me to connect with fashion designers and establish myself as an influencer. I would make appearances at the shows wearing fashionable outfits from various designers, capturing the attention of many photographers, and getting featured in different magazines as a model. It was a whirlwind of endless beauty and glamour—Paris, the fashion capital, along with the glamorous events in Monaco and the exquisite Cannes Festival once a year.

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2023

As an esteemed guest, Tatiana effortlessly showcased her impeccable taste in fashion, catching the attention of renowned designers who clamored to dress her for the occasion.

You are an often guest to the Cannes Film Festival. What were your impressions of this year’s festival?

I entered the world of cinema a year ago after moving to Los Angeles. There, I became intimately acquainted with Hollywood, as life in Hollywood is undeniably intertwined with the film industry. Everything in Los Angeles is somehow connected to the world of movies. Premieres are attended by large number of film professionals, and many individuals write scripts and produce films as a hobby while maintaining their primary businesses.

That’s why the Cannes Festival held particular significance for me. After immersing myself in the Hollywood scene, I arrived at the Cannes Festival with a fresh perspective and a heightened sensitivity towards films—a deeper, more critical approach. For instance, there was immense anticipation throughout Hollywood for the release of the TV show «The Idol,» I was fortunate enough to attend its premiere in Cannes. Walking the red carpet alongside The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp was an incredible experience. The film left a profound impression on me, prompting me to write a personal critique and share my article, conveying my impressions of the movie as a journalist.

What were the bright moments of this year’s festival?

This year’s Cannes Festival was incredibly captivating, unlike anything before. The films showcased were truly remarkable, including titles like «Indiana Jones,» «The Idol,» «In the Blink of an Eye,» «The Animal Kingdom,» «May December» and many more. The festival attendees were enthralled by these intriguing movies, and it was a rarity to witness such a large number of compelling films being presented in the past ten years. The festival also drew a significant presence of Hollywood stars, which added to the enchantment of Cannes, leaving unforgettable impressions on everyone.

The Cannes Festival is all about Hollywood and the fascinating individuals from the film industry who come from Los Angeles. This year, I personally experienced it when attending various events and activities where I had the opportunity to meet and interact with people specifically from Los Angeles—producers, film investors, and actors. One particular exclusive event I attended took place on a grand yacht, featuring the presentation of Rebel Wilson’s new film. It was attended by 200 of the film industry’s most exclusive producers, actors, and captivating personalities. The guests were treated to music performances. Rebel Wilson delighted us with her film presentation, infused with her signature sense of humor and an incredibly positive vibe. I was thrilled to personally meet Rebel Wilson, Robbie Williams, Sting, and other fascinating guests at this exclusive gathering. Each one of them left a lasting impression with their extraordinary presence.

THE STYLE ICON

Tatiana’s fashion sense has become a subject of admiration and inspiration among her followers. With her keen eye for trends and the ability to effortlessly pull off any ensemble, she has cemented her status as a style icon.

What were your looks for the Red Carpet?

This year, I had two completely contrasting looks for the red carpet. One was a minimalist fashion ensemble by Alexander Vauthier—a dress that accentuated today’s fashion and highlighted my individuality. The other look was the complete opposite—a princess-like attire with a voluminous gown, expertly chosen by my stylist, Jean-Mark Mondelet. The purpose was to create distinctively different looks, just like the contrasting makeup and hairstyle. It’s fascinating to play with the contrast of these looks on the red carpet.

Speaking of photographers on the red carpet, many capture moments you might stumble upon randomly while searching on Google later. Discovering that you were photographed without even knowing it is quite a surprise. When photographers appreciate your look, you certainly don’t go unnoticed. I enjoy posing for different photographers to capture various angles and perspectives on the red carpet.

How do you prepare for the red-carpet experience?

Typically, preparation for the red carpet takes several days. It involves selecting and organizing the outfits, arranging transportation to the red carpet, and dedicating an entire day to hairstyling and makeup. Choosing the right jewelry that complements the look is crucial, often through collaborations with brands. Focusing on creating the perfect look for the red carpet takes several days of preparation. However, the experience is truly enchanting — walking the red carpet alongside Hollywood stars, being surrounded by photographers from all directions, and, most importantly, the anticipation of watching the film. Cannes Festival is like living in a fairytale.

How would you describe the fashion choices of red carpet’s participants?

There are bloggers and influencers of different categories. Some of them want to make a statement and appear in very provocative outfits. I think this is self-promotion and a desire to attract as much criticism and attention as possible through any means, even if the outfits themselves are not flattering.

Other bloggers and influencers choose princess like outfits in elaborate dresses each year, aiming to emphasize themselves in a fairytale style. These are usually long princess dresses with intricate hairstyles and complex makeup. To have as many photographs as possible on the red carpet, they often make multiple appearances during the Cannes Film Festival, showcasing themselves in different beautiful outfits. However, these influencer bloggers tend to stick to the same style, the princess image. I believe it is interesting to change styles and not be afraid to be different.

How different are styled the world stars?

True stars do not try to stand out on the red carpet because they are already well-known and very confident. They usually have a subtle and elegant appearance, wearing designer dresses that are not flashy or screaming for attention. Their makeup and hairstyle are modest. By doing so, they accentuate their individuality. They know the power of their charm and attractiveness and don’t need to rely on additional attributes.

I believe it’s crucial to surround yourself with people who are always moving forward, with ambitious individuals who ignite a fire within you and propel the world forward. Learning to be confident, shift your focus and eliminate negative emotions is important because dwelling on them only wastes time and energy, which we need to move forward. Every day, you should take steps towards your dreams. Just never give up, everything is possible!
